PROBLEMS AFFECTING THE QUALITY OF FURNITURE IN THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH SUDAN

The republic of South Sudan being a newly born nation is facing challenges in achieving quality furniture. Joints are problem that affecting the achievement of quality furniture, for this reason; there is need to research on how the furniture is joined; and the materials used.
This research is only to identify areas in need of improvement within my own practice.
The challenges can be realized in different ways:
-          It can be in the way a piece of furniture was constructed.
-          The type of joint and the skills applied in construction of the furniture.
-          The durability of the furniture.
-          The type of materials used for production of the furniture.
-          Measurements
Materials used
This is referring to the type of timbers used for making the table has lot of defects. These defects are faults which are found in timber, and are due to natural or other cause. They originate during seasoning (the process of drying timbers) e.g. surface cracks are caused by direct sun heat in open air seasoning and too rapid kiln seasoning. Below picture is showing crack on the surface of table.

Now the challenge is what shall be done to avoid surface cracking on wood to achieve good quality furniture? Anyone who has knowledge on how to improve this challenge is welcome.
